The street is bordered by M.K. Čiurlionio and Šakių Streets to the north and by Klimo Street to the southeast. It is 0,518 km in length.
In 1965 it was named after V. Pietaris.
In 1991 a continuation (runs until P. Klimo Street) of the street was named Pietario Street.
Vincas Pietaris (born Oct 09, 1850, Žiūrų-Gudelių village, Vilkaviškis district – died Oct 03, 1902, Russia) was a Lithuanian doctor, writer, and author of the first Lithuanian historic novel „Algimantas“. In 2002 a monument to commemorate V. Pietaris was opened in the old cemetery of Marijampolė.
