On 24th November, 2001 memorial plaque was attached on the gymnasium’s wall to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Jonas Basanavičius.
Jonas Basanavičius, (born Nov. 23, 1851, Ožkabaliai, Lithuania, Russian Empire—died Feb. 16, 1927, Vilnius, Lithuania), physician, folklorist, and a leader of the Lithuanian national movement. Basanavičius participated in every major event leading to the independent Lithuanian state and is often given the unique informal honorific title of the "Patriarch of the Nation". He edited the first number of the important Lithuanian cultural and political magazine Aušra („Dawn”), published 1883–1886. „Aušra” has significantly influenced the development of the Lithuanian national movement.
