Palace of Culture is located in the centre of Marijampolė. It’s territory is bordered by two oldest streets of the city: Vilkaviškio Street to the south and Kauno Street to the east.

Palace of Culture was designed in 1988. However, the works were stopped and renewed only in 2000. The project was developed by the architect Gražina Janulytė-Bernotienė and her colleagues. The grand opening occured in 2004, December 24th, although it was equipped with only a big hall and part of the auxiliary premises and offices. The constructions ended in 2007, but the remaining installations and customization for various activities took more years.
Palace of Culture is multifunctional building that harbours various types of institutions under its roof. However, the real host of the building is Culture Centre with a main attraction – a huge and modern concert hall suitable not only for local artist, but for world’s famous performers as well. The centre has two galleries, folk artists club "Muse" and 16 art groups.
